Then you should sign up for MITEI’s Discover the Energy Transition First-Year Pre-Orientation Program (FPOP)!

We foster a strong student energy community through programs and opportunities, such as the Energy Studies Minor, energy-specific Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program (UROP) projects, online energy courses, and alternative energy field trips, as well as by supporting student energy and climate groups.

We’ll be your guide to:

• The Energy Studies Minor, which prepares students to approach a huge range of complex global problems;
• Faculty and researchers whose classes you’ll want to take and whose labs you’ll want to connect with for research opportunities;
• The funding and benefits of the MITEI Energy UROP; and
• The always-popular MIT Energy and Climate Club and the larger MIT climate ecosystem.

In past years, the Discover Energy FPOP has included visits to a wind turbine blade-testing facility, a nuclear reactor, and a sustainable farm, plus a chance for students to harness wind power themselves for a sail on the Charles River.
