We empower graduate students to contribute to a vibrant, collaborative energy research community at MIT through funding and a range of seminar, conference, and other opportunities.
Current programs
Graduate students and postdocs are critical to the energy research enterprise across MIT’s departments and labs and often supervise MITEI-sponsored UROP students as well. Through our conferences and other events, graduate students and postdocs grow their network of energy contacts in the public and private sector. Some graduate students receive our support as teaching assistants in key courses in the Energy Studies Minor curriculum.
Society of Energy Scholars
MITEI's Society of Energy Scholars is a scholarship program that supports graduate students working on clean energy research. Scholars are selected based on their research proposals and alignment of their research topics with the interests of sponsors.
Tata Fellows
Tata Fellows are MIT graduate students who conduct research aimed at developing practical solutions for resource-constrained communities, working closely with on-the-ground collaborators. Preference is given to proposals with direct community impact and stakeholder engagement in India.
Online courses
We offer online graduate-level energy courses on MIT Learn. These were developed in collaboration with MIT faculty and researchers, and are free to audit.
